Christina Aguilera at Voltaire | Las Vegas Residency
December 30, 2023 through August 31, 2024

25 years since her debut album released, Christina Aguilera rang in the new year kicking off her Las Vegas residency at the Venetian’s Voltaire. Dawna Oak designed the iconic, towering red gown Christina donned during her opening song “Not Myself Tonight”.

“At the opening of the show, I had to get over my fear of heights to stand up on this lift that’s underneath my Dawna Oak dress. I envisioned the dress parting and dancers coming out from underneath it, so that was a fun technical piece that we had to create, almost as a prop.”

Diriyah Saudi Arabia

Diriyah Ground Breaking Ceremony
August 2019 through November 2019

In partnership with DGDA, the "groundbreaking" ceremony in 2019 for the Diriyah Gate project was actually a royal inauguration ceremony held on November 19, 2019 to officially launch the giga-project. The event, sponsored by King Salman bin Abdulaziz, marked the start of the transformation of the historic area into a global cultural and lifestyle tourism destination, rather than a traditional ground-breaking.

DISNEY ON ICE

Let’s Dance!

Global Tour | Full New Production

“It’s always fun to bring the Disney characters to life but especially for the first time. Disney On Ice often gets to be the first to bring new Disney characters to life for our audiences around the globe which is pretty special to be a part of!”

In adapting the movies for the ice, Costume designer Dawna Oak retained the characters’ wardrobes, but adjusted the length of the costumes. Most characters in the movies wear full-length clothing that nearly touches the floor — not exactly conducive to ice-skating.

“I feel like we did a really good job at condensing them and adjusting them for ice. But of course, they still have the sparkle that we all expect! We also must be especially thoughtful in how costumes are constructed, allowing for full range of movement by our world class performers.”

Encanto

Global Tour | Full New Segment

Disney’s Encanto brings beloved characters Mirabel, her sisters Isabel and Luisa, and the rest of the ensemble center stage. Costume Designer, Dawna Oak reflects on the making of the show stating…

“It’s always a priority to get anything that’s based in reality right. When we do a show that has a very specific geography, it’s important that we study and learn and that we get the cultural aspects of this right.”

Magic in the Stars

Global Tour | Full New Production

Debuting in 2023, Disney On Ice Magic in the Stars showcases over 50 beloved characters from stories like Frozen and Encanto to Cars and Toy Story.
